Riesling / Coonawarra / SouthAustralia
Wynns have earned a soild reputation for delivering Coonawarra's most refined and elegant Riesling. From a region that's renowned for the peerless quality of its world class varietal reds, Wynns have demonstrated that Coonawarra can also make compelling white wines of the highest order. Sitting confidently at the riper end of the fruit spectrum, exuding exquisite citrus florals and an attractive honeysuckle lift, in a style which contrasts favourably to the classically mineral structured Rieslings from higher elevation, cooler climes.

Chardonnay / Coonawarra / SouthAustralia
While the wood treatment in Wynns Chardonnay has gradually been reduced over the years, the style of oak is refined and plays an important but subtle role, enhancing the varietal characters through the use of techniques which ensure complexity. As a young wine it displays vital expressions of fresh cut melon, figs and citrus fruit finely balanced by vanillin oak. Hints of butterscotch and roasted nuts evolve as the wine ages. The enduring tradition continues at Wynns, a highly attractive Chardonnay that's immediately enjoyable yet ages magnificently.

Kym Tolley takes aim at crafting a crisp, young wine with soft fruit flavours to be consumed without the need for any bottle age. A stylish and elegant cool climate style of Coonawarra, the finely tuned acids achieve a crispness of palate that many new world Chardonnays lack. Quality new French oak, rich barrel ferments and partial lees stirring, all contribute to the style, the fruit flavour is not shrouded, but enhanced by the judicious use of oak, a key feature in all Penley wines.

Judiciously dry while remaing highly food friendly, Majella works beautifully with the freshest fishes, Asian inspired flavours and spicy recipes make a piquant match.

The distinguished Laira property was established by Captain Stentiford in 1893 on a premium parcel of choice Coonawarra Terra rossa soil. Pioneer and patron of the Coonawarra, Eric Brand became custodian of the vineyard more than half a century later. Today, Brand's Laira are widely regarded as some of the region's best plantings, producing wines of exceptional quality as evidenced by their consistent wine show success. The distinctive small berries of the vineyard lead to below average yields, translating into wines with intense flavours.
